Crop Technician- Southern Area


The crop technician must be outgoing, enjoy the outdoors, pay attention to detail, take direct orders, and be physically able to work long hours during busy times. He/she must also maintain a valid driver's license with minimal infractions.


A degree in agronomy or related field is preferred but not required. Training will be provided to the candidate hired.


  • Cropland Field Work: Duties include scouting, crop monitoring, soil and crop sampling, pH grid testing, mapping, and research trial work. Follow-up reports are completed and provided to the farmer and crop consultant.
  • Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan Field Work: Technicians perform a technical role by measuring slope gradients and lengths, looking for hydro-logically sensitive areas and concentrated flows, taking measurements from intermittent or perennial streams, and marking row gradients and watershed breaks.
  • Office Work: Office work consists of data entry, soil processing, creating and updating maps using GIS software, preparing for research trials, and helping to maintain the office.


The crop technician will work out of the Warsaw office, but will perform field duties on client farms. The successful candidate will primarily work in Allegany and Steuben Counties.
